Trailer/News Round Up #2

I haven't posted much in the past few weeks due to personal stuff (study and weddings) but from here on out should be smooth sailing. This week these four trailers and one teaser caught my attention and hopefully they live up to what they seem to promise.

First up is a trailer for the HBO exclusive show the Leftovers which is set to air late next month (June 29). This show is based on the novel by Tom Perrotta which I haven't yet read and is directed by Damon Lindelof, the guy behind Lost. One thing that all of the trailers for this series have done well is show us so much but so little at the same time. All we know is that 2% of the world's population just up and disappeared. Knowing Lindelof this show will probably have many twists and being on HBO I'll probably be addicted to this show.

We also got a nice little teaser for Guillermo del Toro's latest project on FX called The Strain. The Strain is one I'm looking forward to because of the fact that this time we won;t have vampries that try to woo teenage girls but instead we will get more animalistic and monster like vampires. What really got me was that the teaser oozes psychological horror which is one of my weaknesses.

Next up is the second trailer for the upcoming TMNT movie. I know most people think this movie will fail since it has Michael Bay's name attached but to be honest I can't but feel a little excited for this movie. In this latest trailer we get a better look at all the turtles, and a better look at shredder and master splinter. I hope that we get character featurettes in the future cause I'm just dying to see how they portray splinter and shredder.

Lastly is the trailer for What We Do in Shadows; a movie helmed by the guys behind Flight of the Concords. This movie is a horror comedy much like Shaun of the Dead but with vampires. The movie is basically about vampires who have been room mates for a long time and finally add a new member, as with most new people added to a group a story unfolds. From the trailer though this movie looks hilarious and I will definitely be checking this out when it airs.

Also on a side not it is time for use to say farewell to the Fox show Almost Human which was cancelled after it's first season. So unfortunately we will never know what is beyond the wall or why Kennex's wife joined the Insyndicate. I actually enjoyed this show so I am a bit devastated that I won't get to see the story lines unfold because the show was getting really interesting near the finale. However I can't say I'm surprised this show got cancelled, it was doomed when it took breaks every so often. Some weeks I would just forget the show was out because it took that many breaks that it was hard to know when the next episode aired. On top of the constant breaks the show was aired out of order. Regardless it will be sad to see a sci-fi show go, I guess I will have to wait a while to fill the void left by Fringe.
