Today we finally get a look at Fox's Gotham, a show that is essentially a Batman prequel without Batman. Gotham as you may suspect is about the city of Gotham pre Batman, which means we will see the origins of many of the characters from the Batman canon such as Selina Kyle (Cat Woman), Oswald Cobblepot (Penguin), Edward Nigma (Riddler), Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy) and of course Bruce Wayne (Batman duh). All this prequel canon will be seen through the eyes of a young moustachless Commissioner Gordon and his partner Harvey Bullock.
As you may have guessed this story follows Detective James Gordon who is tasked with solving the high profile murder case; the death of Thomas and Martha Wayne. During his investigations he meets Bruce and forms a bond with the to be super hero which drives Gordon to solve the case of the Wayne's murder and in turn help shape the boy that would become the Dark Knight. While the trailer shows villains pre batman, previous story synopsis' have teased Joker and Two Face appearance in the show.
Prior to this trailer I was a bit hesitant about this series because I thought to myself how the heck do you even do a Batman story without the caped crusader? However this trailer does look promising and has got me excited about this series mainly due to origin stories of villains. At this point in time I am just wondering how they will show Joker without Batman because as most comic fans know Jokers origins are still shrouded in mystery and his whole purpose is to cause chaos and taunt Batman. Time will tell how the story plays out in this show.
